The Lake Lurleen Serpentine Trail Race


Race Date: April 25, 2020

Start Time: 8:30 am

Location: Lake Lurleen State Park; Coker, Alabama

Description: This is a hybrid trail run / adventure race. Compete as a 4-person team or individual to locate 9 randomly-placed checkpoints (1 on each section of the Lake Lurleen trail system), and return to base.

Distance: Total distance of the entire trail system is 24 miles, but most runners will be able to run less than that and still locate all 9 flags. Team members can plan on running anywhere from 4 to 12 miles.

Entry fees: $10.00 for individual entry ($4.00 to get in the gate, $6.00 to be in the race)
$20.00 for a team of 4

Registration: All registration / waivers, etc. will take place the day of the race.

The more familiar you are with this map, the better you will do in the race.  Feel free to print and carry with you during the race.  You can also purchase a copy for $1 at the park gate. One flag will be randomly placed on each individual trail, including the new McFarland trail (not shown on map).  The Tashka main trail will be divided into two sections. There will be one flag on the south section of the Tashka trail (from the spillway to the north entrance of 5 Oaks), and one flag on the north section (from the north 5 Oaks entrance to the north trailhead).

Rules:
1. No specific route is prescribed. Runners may go in any direction.
2. Stay on designated trails
3. Any use of technology for mapping / timing is fair game
4. Team members may communicate with each other by whatever means possible
5. Flags can be reached in any order
6. Be courteous of other runners and mountain bikers who may be on the trails
